SCOPUS
Friday, September 8 1:00 to 2:30
Scopus is a database for UCHC library users, providing online searching of 27 million records covering articles from 14,000 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers.
WEB OF SCIENCE / JOURNAL CITATION REPORTS
Thursday, September 14 10:30 to 12:00
The Web of Science (WOS) database indexes citations from 8,000 premiere journals published internationally for years 1994 through 2006. WOS indexes topics in medicine, social sciences and humanities. It can be used by authors to determine who has cited their work (“cited reference searching”). The instructor will also demonstrate use of Journal Citation Reports (JCR), a comprehensive and unique E-resource that allows a searcher to evaluate or compare individual journal titles using citation data drawn from 7,500 scholarly and technical journals published in 60 countries by over 3,300 publishers. Citation and article counts are important indicators of how frequently current researchers are using individual journals. By tabulating and aggregating citation and article counts, JCR offers a unique perspective for faculty who are interested in comparing or evaluating publications in 300 academic disciplines for years 2003, 2004, and 2005.

New Library Website
We have a new design – but all our resources are still here! If you’re looking for some quick links, try the pull-down menu under “Most Used Resources.” You’ll find PubMed, NEJM, JAMA, Micromedex and more there. Using our “Find Our Resources” box brings you to all our journals, databases, and library catalog. Other library services and directories are in appropriately labeled boxes. About the library is a button at the top. Please use the “comments” or “ask a librarian” feature to send us comments – or to register for the participating in usability tests of this new website.
