Librarian Creates New Blog

A blog was created this July by Kathleen Crea, Information & Education Services Librarian at UCHC. It is entitled "EBM and Clinical Support Librarians@UCHC. It is hosted on the Wordpress site at http://creakysites.wordpress.com/

The purpose of the blog is to allow students, librarians, faculty and researchers to view postings, videos or announcements on Web 2.0 technologies as they relate to medical education, clinical practice, student rotations and also "knowledge management" or library-related news.

For example, under "Blogs I Like", there is a link to http://scienceroll.com, written by Bertalan Mesko, a medical student in Hungary. Scienceroll is an excellent example of how social networking technologies can combine in a "mash-up" of medical news, relevant video, commentaries (from both the blogger-author and the readers out there), interviews and opinions of biomedical researchers, students and practitioners, such as a recent posting about the first medical simulation or "PBL" session held on SecondLife, on 8-9-07. Read about it at: http://creakysites.wordpress.com/2007/08/10/first-medical-simulation-in-second-life-aug-9-2007/
If you have material which you believe would be beneficial to post on the EBM and Clinical Support Librarians@UCHC blog, please forward them to the site administrator, Kathleen Crea, at crea@nso.uchc.edu.
