L.M. Stowe Library Exhibits September 2005
The exhibit cases outside the library now display "The September Project".
The first phase of the display is a commemoration of 9/11 using privately owned photographs, books, and newspapers. These items are not a part of the L.M. Stowe Library Collection.
After the anniversary, the exhibit will be expanded. The September Project is a grassroots effort to encourage public events on freedom, democracy, and citizenship on or around September 11. Worldwide, September Project events are activities of reflection, discussion, and dialogue about the meaning of freedom, the role of information in promoting active citizenship, and the importance of literacy in making sense of the world around us. Libraries around the world are organizing public and campus events. Go to the following URL to read more about what other libraries are planning. There are maps at this site pinpointing the libraries participating in 2005.

The L.M. Stowe Library is running two exhibits in the display cases for the month of August 2005.
The first exhibit is a very unique collection of medical artifacts currently residing in the glass exhibit case in the entrance of the library. This collection has been graciously loaned to the library from the Hartford Medical Society. The collection includes a pharmacists field scales kit and a surgical kit from the U.S. Civil War c1860-1865, as well a many other artifacts not to be missed.
The second display case located in the lobby outside the library, currently exhibits the talents and hobbies of library staff. The collection includes collage, watercolors, photography, stained glass, pottery, weaving, piece quilting, needlework, and even a recipe that you can take along with you.
