The library has organized a subscription to the Biomedical and Life Sciences Collection of Henry Stewart Talks - a seminar style talks by leading world experts. All the talks can be accessed at http://www.hstalks.com/access/

This rapidly expanding collection already contains over 650 seminar style talks designed to meet the needs of research scientists, graduate students and the most advanced undergraduates. All of the seminars have been specially commissioned from leading scientists and are presented in a user-friendly format of animated slides with synchronized narration.

Visual Histology now available on streaming videos

The Visual Histology Video Series by Moran & Rowley, now available on streaming videos from the library, contains a set of 26 half-hour beautifully-illustrated lectures – each covering a major topic in Histology, and 24 Power Point Presentations for lecturer.

Access is by IP range and through Proxy service; go to http://library.uchc.edu, click on “Databases,” and type in Visual Histology.

Wiley e-book platform for UCHC

Announcing the Wiley e-book platform for UCONN Health Center users.

A joint initiative between the UCONN Health Center Library and the UCONN main campus library at Storrs is providing online access to the Wiley e-book platform. Users have unlimited access to the titles purchased. The libraries are able to purchase individual titles from this platform, so be sure to return often to check out purchases as they become available.

Cardiosource Plus: A New Resource from the Library


Cardiosource Plus is an educational resource from American College of Cardiology that includes access to current, credible and comprehensive cardiac information and the clinical trials database with downloadable summary slides, a clinical images database with over 6000 images in still and motion video formats, Heart Songs, and other related information.

To access Cardiosource Plus, go to http://library.uchc.edu, click on Databases, and choose Cardiosource Plus. (First time users need to do a one-time registration to create their own username and password). Users must log in to have full access to Cardiosource Plus.

DynaMed (Dynamic Medical Information System) is a quick and easy-to-use medical reference system designed for use at the point of care. Did you Know?

Pre-recorded webcasts of surgical procedures are now available in MedlinePlus (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/surgeryvideos.html). These are actual operations performed at medical centers in the United States since January 2004. The videos last an hour.You will need RealPlayer to view the programs. If you do not have Real Player, you will be prompted to obtain a free download of the software before you view the presentation.

Database Highlight: SCOPUS

Scopus, the world’s largest abstract and indexing database, offers access to 14,200 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers. Health Education Assets Library

Health Education Assets Library (HEAL), a national multimedia digital repository, was established in 2000 as a joint effort between three U.S. academic institutions: the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, University of Utah and the University of Oklahoma.

HEAL provides the following definition on its' homepage: "Health Education Assets Library is a digital library of freely accessible, web-based multimedia teaching materials that meet the needs of today's health sciences educators and learners. The HEAL collection currently contains a number of collections of multimedia resources for health sciences undergraduate and professional education, as well as resources for patient and consumer health."

Access to HEAL is freely available to anyone in the world. There are about 21,400 indexed medical images, videoclips, audioclips, web page links, animations or PDF documents in this peer-reviewed resource.

HEAL is a part of The National Science Digital Library initiative.
